How current is the information in HCB Star Banking?
A
HCB Star Banking operates in a "real-time" environment. As soon as you make a transfer, the transaction will be reflected immediately on your account.

What do I need to access HCB Star Banking?

You will need a personal computer, a modem, an active account with an Internet Service Provider, and an account at Houston Community Bank.

What kind of browser do I need?
A
HCB Star Banking requires a browser to support 128-bit encryption with SSL protocol.

What happens if I forget my PIN?
A
You are allowed three (3) attempts before being locked out. Your PIN will be reset to the original number assigned by the bank.

What happens if I don’t log off the system?
A
HCB Star Banking has a 10-minute time out feature. If the system has been inactive for over 10 minutes, the user will be required to re-enter their ID and PIN.

What should I do if I think someone has my access codes?
A
Immediately change your current PIN under the "Account Management" option. Contact the bank at (281) 537-7170 during business hours.

Why do I see electronic transactions and HCB Star Banking transfers duplicated?
A
You may see the electronic transactions, which include HCB Star Banking transfers, twice during our end of day processing. End of day processing is required for your transactions to be updated. This process begins each banking evening and lasts several hours. The duplicated transactions will disappear once end of day processing has completed.

How do I sign up for HCB Star Banking?

You simply fill out an enrollment form and return it to any branch office.

Will I continue to receive a paper account statement in the mail?

Yes, we will mail a copy of your statement at regular intervals.

Can I download my bank account information into my financial software?

Yes. Most software packages allow you to download account information from Online Banking. Popular software supported by HCB Star Banking include, Quicken, Managing Your Money, and Microsoft Money.

What is online bill payment?
A
The online bill payment feature allows you to pay all of your bills electronically. If the merchant you are paying is not set up to receive electronic payments, this feature automatically prepares and mails them a paper check.

How far in advance should I pay a bill with online bill payment?
A
Check payments should be scheduled 5 business days in advance of payment due date. Electronic payments should be scheduled 3 business days prior to the payment due date.

Who can I pay through bill payment?
A
You can pay anyone in the United States from the next door neighbor, to the utility company, to the bank and even a child in a college across the country.

When will the money be taken out of my account?
A
HCB will treat bill payment items like any other check that you write. Should the item be returned, a hold may be placed on your bill payment service.

How late in the day can I enter, edit or delete a payment?
A
You may add, edit, or delete payments Sunday through Friday up until 10:00PM CST the day before the scheduled payment date.

What if the scheduled payment falls on a weekend or holiday?
A
Scheduled payments that fall on a weekend or holiday will be processed on Friday evening. Any new payments that are scheduled over the weekend will be processed on Sunday night. Holiday processing is done the following day after the holiday.

Are there any merchants I cannot pay through bill payment?
A
Yes. You cannot pay any government agency.

Can I get a copy of a cancelled check?
A
You can request a copy through bill payment Customer Service at 1-866-211-1502. There will be a fee assessed for this service.

How far in advance can I schedule payments?
A
You may schedule payments up to 90 days in advance of the first due date. Recurring payments can have an end date of any year in the future.

Can I stop a payment?
A
Yes. You will need to call Customer Service at 1-866-211-1502. There will be a fee assessed for this service.

How many payees may I set up?
A
You can set up to 99 payees.

Do I have to notify my payee that I will be sending a payment through bill payment?
A
No. Your payees do not need to be notified.
